Lacorde :Kenichi Kawamura and Masato Higa
Kenichi Kawamura and Masato Higa are a musical duo from Okinawa. Masato plays piano and creates music arrangement. Kenichi is on vocals and plays the Sanshin, a traditional Okinawan 3 string instrument. Kenichi is originally from Niigata in the North West of Japan but his love of the Sanshin led him to move to Okinawa. He was involved with the arrangement of OKINAWA SHIMAUTA POPS KUN KUN SHI series released from Campus Record, his vocals have also featured on many CDs releases.
Masato majored in vocal music at Okinawa Prefectual Art University and since graduating has worked at a broadcasting station. He worked as a radio director and announcer, and now works as a news writer and a program director.
They originally performed together as “Kenichi & Masato”, and later renamed to Lacorde. They have performed live in Kenichi’s hometown Niigata and headlined their own shows in Naha, Okinawa.
Lacorde released their first album “TSUKINU KAISHA” in 2010. It has helped them make a name for themselves and their unique sound of sanshin and piano in Okinawa and beyond..
